TinyMCE great developer user experience

TinyMCE is a free text editor used in the most important internet CMS. Im sure you have used it before tons of times but you really didnt notice. Well, last week I was checking to update my TinyMCE version on my recipe community, muchogusto.net, and I found a bug in the TinyMCE spellchecker tool and so I reported it into the bug tracking system of TinyMCE website.

I was really surprised by the easy way and great user experience they give to everybody for managing and solving that kind of bugs sent by the final user:

As easy as follow the steps on the “Submit a bug report” form and click on “submit” button. Then you can see there are lots of bugs waiting to be fixed. Just like this:

Within next few days you will receive an email from TinyMCE staff that tells you the person in charge to fix the bug and thanks you for the contribution. In less than a week the bug I found was solved and they launched a new release of TinyMCE. Awesome!! isnt it?

My congratulations to TinyMCE for the easy user experience on solving bugs. You are great guys!!

Tabs Unleashed, one smart UX improvement for next coming Firefox versions

Im a heavy user of Firefox web browser, and sometimes when Im working with two or three different pages I love to use tabs for changing from one page to another. Tabs are cool.

But when I have 10 or 15 tabs opened I always have same problem: I create a new tab with [+] button and the tab itself positions at top right. When I want to change to my very first tab I must make a boring scroll and search for the first tab, click and drag it next to the last tab I created.

I think it would be nice to implement new behavour in tabs: when you click on [+] button, browser must create a new tab next to the one you were before. Now when you click on create a tab button, the tab is always created at top right that way its very scary when there is more than 10 tabs to make scroll and drag tab to join with another…

Do you like it? Thats what I call “Tabs Unleashed”!!! It would be great to implement that new feature in the next version of Fifefox :-)

Google Pluff or 3 Heavy Reasons Why “Google +” is not going to succeed

1.- Altough we are used to see how the “Almighty Google” can launch the best online services, the only thing that made Google better or different in the past was and is still their great search algorithm. Google Plus is not based on any algorithm and is just a copy of similar services offered in real social networks like Facebook or Twitter. In spanish we like to say “Zapatero a tus zapatos”, and in english you would say “The cobbler should stick to his last” that means, Google please keep working on offering great results and dont mess up SERPS with “glossy buttons”.

2.- Google has fighted for decades against link farms, black hat SEO techniques, and manipulations in SERPS and now with “Google Pluff” starts the real SERP and SEO Battle. Why? Cause now the Google results pages could be manipulated by a manual interaction and the poor “search algorithm” is going to be so sad …

3.- Yesterday I just received this email offer: 500 +1′s for the great price of $349. This is the first sign I saw that makes me think seriously about what Google is doing and the next SEO Battle is going to have place in Google Results Pages.

Take a look:

Great offer! This is very frustrating for me and most of the people working hard on the internet. I have almost 10 years working on the internet and Im always thinking about things like:

Is “Google Pluff” going to be a shortcut for spammers to reach first SERP positions?

It depends on Google. I hope not.

Does Blue arrow on Google SERPS decrease your visits?

I recently saw at Analytics ( Traffic Sources > Search Engines > Google > )that my firsts positioned SERP keywords in Spanish Google: “musaka”, “leche frita”, “recetas con carne picada” have decreased incoming visits from Google from -17 to -25% just because they are marked with the blue arrow.

I check those words the 29th of september versus 30th september (the day the blue arrow was launched). It is incredible how the visits from Google are decreasing just because the little arrow.

I suppose most of users see that little arrow as an “Advertisement” and thats whay they dont click as usual in the first position of SERPS.

This is very very annoying for my first ORGANIC and FREE positioned keywords at Google. But think about the ADWORDS blue arrowed SERPS. Yes, Google adds a blue arrow to Adwords too… wow!! So now the 1st positioned pay words must decrease from 15 to 25% too??…. woooooooow!!! Who is the person in charge of this change in the Google SERP Interface?

My webpage has almost 7000 visits per day. Here you can check the decrease of visits from Google from 29th to 30th september:

Im a bit worried about this because I checked the difference between this first positioned keywords the other weeks and they dont use to be so different.

Did anyone check if blue arrow is good or bad for your traffic?

Its very simple, just compare 29th to to 30th September keywords incoming from Google …
